I made initial contact with Anthony Mwangi the owner of Ameritrans international via email on 3/09/21, I was then contacted by an Ameritrans associate that went by the name Joseph whom I communicated with via email and telephone. Joseph seemed very dedicated to help with my shipping needs, he assisted me with quotes and very timely. Joseph would call me atleast twice a week to check in and see if I was ready to ship, I figured these guys were dedicated and decently priced, so we came to an agreement and I wired $10,841.60 to ameritrans federal credit union account on 5/27/21. This sum covered shipping two semi trucks from Baltimore to st.vincent and the grenadines. The trucks sailed from Baltimore on 7/7/21 and on 8/2/21 I was informed by joseph that the shipping line remeasured the truck and found some discrepancy with my original measurements and I will need to pay an additional 1,434.96 at this point I was given a bol and since it was my first time shipping I didnt know it should say original and not copy. I payed the second sum and thought I had everything I needed and if not I was still in contact with Joseph almost daily. Fast foward to 9/13/21 the day my trucks arrived to ST.Vincent and all hell broke loose. I presented the brooker with my bol and he informed me that I needed the original bol, I called Americans looking for joseph I got veronica Ameritrans secretary who gave me the run around for days, at first she was reaching out to the shipping line for original bol (BS) because joseph was late, then he didnt make it to work, next he went on vacation and would be gone for two weeks. They stopped answering my calls stopped replying to my emails I had to call from other phone numbers to get ahold of them, at this point its 7 days later my trucks are stuck on the port building storage cost at 168 per truck per day and still no fix from Ameritrans. In desperation I reached out to the shipping line who informed me that Ameritrans has not made any payment, I could not hold my tears back. Thankfully the shipping line was willing to work with me and after sending them all my proof of payment and them trying to contact Americans for a week without answer they changed the bol from prepaid to collect and I had to pay $9000 to get the original bol. I am posting this to help other,I would hate to see this happen to anyone else. I know I should have done more research before hand which I did but didnt dig deep enough. Anthony Mwangi and his associates at Ameritrans are scammers!!! They are fully aware of what they are doing, I am not sure how they are still allowed to do business. PLEASE AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE AT All COST. I REPEAT DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH ANTHONY MWANGI OR ANYONE THAT IS ASSOCIATE WITH AMERITRANS INTERNATIONAL. If anyone has any recommendations on how I should go about getting my money back please feel free to comment.
