Trendy Nails is a nail salon located in the CityPlace mall in downtown Silver Spring, Md. I have visited this nail salon three times and had my nails done. On January 13, 2022, I visited the nail salon hoping to have my nails done. Upon removing nails that had been placed by a technician I discovered that my nails were severely damaged underneath. When I noticed it I immediately asked to speak with the manager, I had to ask for a manager three times before the manager finally came to speak with me. I showed the manager my nails and let her know that I was not satisfied. She said that my nails were damaged due to water getting underneath the nail and that's what happens when you don't come every two weeks to have your nails done. I shared with her that I had come back and had them done before two weeks and that I am not the nail technician and it was not my fault that one of my nails was discolored and the rest of them were so fragile. The manager never apologized or offered a solution to the problem or how to repair my nails. I let the manager know that if I had been diabetic that the results could have been detrimental to my health. I had to ask the nail technicians to soak my nails to remove the acrylic and gel from them. One technician came over and held up a towel that was covering my hands in a bowl of acetone and she was so rude and did not communicate with me. I sat a little while longer and waited for someone to come and assist me and when no one came, I stood up and left because the treatment that I received was not only unprofessional, but they didn't seem to care that they had damaged my nails. Then, I walked down the street to another nail salon and had the remaining parts of the acrylic removed from my nails. I also noticed that this nail shop had glass partitions at every booth to prevent customers from becoming infected with covid. They explained to me what had occurred and said they would take care of me. Trendy Nails needs to have a health inspector visit their salon to assess if they are in fact abiding by a health code for not only covid but making sure they are correctly and safely providing the service of nail care.
