      I bought a vehicle from Betten Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC in Muskegon, MI, on 10/1/2024, believing it had only cosmetic damage, as promised by the salesperson. I put down $3,000 and signed a loan with Ally Credit. Before leaving the lot, they scratched a rim, and despite assurances, the oil was not changed, and coolant was severely low. We had to fill. On 10/5/2024, the car began rattling, and warning lights (engine and traction light) appeared, leading to a breakdown on the freeway.. The dealership's response was unprofessional; the salesperson was rude about the tow fee they offered to pay (saying they are not obligated to pay for it), and when me and tow truck driver arrived, he handed the tow truck driver the release papers to the replacement vehicle offered to me, threw the keys to the replacement vehicle to me and left. When I finally got into contact with a manager, I expressed my discomfort with the ongoing issues and how they sold me a vehicle on the pretense that there was only minor cosmetic damage with the car, and how I never received an accident report. The manager acknowledged their vehicles have unpredictable problems and did not directly listen to my concerns nor did he take me seriously; it was as if he was ******* me out of the office. When I mentioned obtaining an attorney to aid me in this ordeal, he demanded I calm down and that he was making no promises to me regarding the future of the vehicle but they would fix it for its CURRENT issues. I feel I was misled and treated poorly throughout this process.

      My husband purchased a car in 2015 from Betten Baker. In late June of 2024, we were notified of vehicle recall. When my husband called to schedule an appointment, the receptionist was rude and hung up on him multiple times. After finally getting an appointment and being told the repairs would take approx. an hour and a half, the car was dropped off around 9 am yesterday. At 5 pm yesterday we received a call asking about the starting issue. My husband was confused and asked multiple times for them to verify what car they were talking about, since we had no issues with the car starting. We were then told the car was ready to be picked up, but the service garage would be closed by the time we arrived. At 8:45 today my husband received another call that the car was ready and the bill would be over $400 for a fuse and $135 for diagnostics of the starting issue. When my husband stated we did not request diagnostics of the starting and it wasn't an issue, that charge was removed. At 11:30 we arrived to pick up the car, to now be told that the break lines are rusted through and the car is no longer able to be driven until the brake lines are replaced. They are now holding our car for $1300+ for new brake lines, when the brakes were perfectly fine when the car was dropped off. This seems to be retaliation for calling them out on the fraudulent charges they attempted to bill us for an issue we never had. It wasn't until the fraudulent service charges were brought up that anything was said about the brake lines, and we were called multiple times and told the car was ready. In all of this neither one of the recalls have been completed, and my husband has missed multiple required in office days due to their incompetence.

      Good Morning, we at Betten Baker ******* received the BBB Complaint regarding Mr. and ***************** recent service experience.  We contacted ************ on 7.9.** and spoke at approximately 4:15PM.  A great deal of information was communicated and resolution was put in place.  Mr. and ************* have two factory recalls that require action.  Recall# **-01-027H-7 ABS Fuse Replacement - Part ordered on 7.9.** and dealer will contact guest to have installed once the part is in our possession.  We will make arrangements to install within one business day or less.  The second recall concerning oil consumption will require multiple visits and time.  Dealer is mailing the ******* bulletin to the Dalm's listed address that outlines the oil consumption process, eligibility and possible replacement of the engine.  All outcomes concerning eligibility with oil consumption are determined by ******* and their Aftersales Team(s).  Dealer also communicated that the customers are able to have oil consumption documentation from any ******* Dealership (************ stated that he drives a great deal).

      Concerning the other issues with the complaint, we at Betten Baker ******* did not charge the customer for diagnostics, an oil change nor brakes services.  We released the vehicle upon the customer's first request.  We also addressed the stated concern of rudeness and ensure additional customer experience training.  We are thankful for the Dalm's time and business.

      So heres my review. My transmission got replaced by someone I can trust at betten but at my expense. which I am not happy for at all, it had been misdiagnosed 4x over the course of 3 years I am in contact with ************** as to the appropriate next steps. I want everyone to know the frustrations I have with betten baker of Muskegon. Their customer service is absolute garbage and their mechanics at the time of 2020 were careless and overlooked a major issue. I put my trust with my car that I paid close to $30,000 for in their hands I not only put my trust in them with my car but also my life as well as others both in the car and on the road. All the trips I should have taken and the enjoyment I should have gotten out of this car for how new it was, I wasnt able to experience that due to my own fear, which was validated that something was seriously wrong with it. got my first 2019 malibu brand new June 2019. The car was a birthday gift to myself for working too **** hard. I had to unfortunately get a new malibu August of 2019 due to the computer not programming to the car itself which completely was out of my control. I got that car August of 2019 and had to unfortunately bring it in July of 2020. 11 months after having it, I felt issues with hesitation, and loss of acceleration. They had the car for a day and said nothing was wrong and returned it. Then continued to have issues and I brought it back in October 2020. Same issue as described and same outcome, no issues, car is fine, no lights and it was returned. I tried to wait it out, self troubleshoot for a bit, made sure to put nothing but mid grade fuel (suggested) new cabin filter, fuel additive to clean any possible buildup or deposits, with no resolution. Then the next month in November I bring it in again for the same I thought maybe the issue was the ** unit cause it was bogging out when ** was on. They found ** is fine and car is fine and it was returned. After 3 attempts I felt like I was going crazy, maybe the car is fine? I waited, I tried and tried and thought maybe this is just the *** transmission, they told me this was normal for a *** transmission. Then here it is 2023 and I feel like its 10x worse but cant afford to get it in and finally in 2024 I decided to bite the bullet and bring it in. January 10th, they test drove it and what do you know, no issues. Car is at 100% fine, nothing felt by technician and no codes ??????? So I tell them to keep it, drive it another day. January 11th comes around, they drive it for 7 miles which I have evidence of, as Im able to track my car anywhere she goes. They call me that afternoon, nothing is wrong with the car, everything is fine, please come get it. I tell them to drive it more, needs more miles driven for it to act the way it has been. January 12th rolls around which is Friday, yet again they drive it but for a whole 15 miles this time and they call me to tell me yeah the car is fine YET AGAIN. One of the mechanics says to the advisor that was assigned to my car, hey let me take this car home for the night to see if I can feel whats going on. The next morning Betten Baker calls me to tell me the car needs a new transmission.. ?????? This was the reason I brought it in back in 2020 3x And for an advisor just Friday morning to drive the car and tell me there is nothing wrong, to not even a whole 5 hours later, another mechanic driving it home Friday night to come into work and tell them there is something seriously wrong, and itll be ***** because its now out of warranty (by ***** miles) and its on me because I didnt bring it back into them since 2020. I have had help with half of the payment to get the car fixed. Still managing to put a smile on my face because now I have to get rid of my car because of Betten Chevrolet Cadillac GMC Buick failed me as well as my car!! When I tell you I am far from happy with this business and I would never send anyone there again! The customer service I got yet again was far from par. I will never purchase from them again.

             I apologize that you have had concerns with your vehicle over the last few years. I understand your frustration but an issue can't be corrected if it can't be verified by a technician. As soon as the concern was verified, we provided a quote for the repairs. Our service manager recently assisted in a "cost assistance" program through GM which paid for 1/2 of the concern. You had authorized the replacement at that time so we completed the repair. You had previously filed a complaint with the state of ******** in which our location was cleared with 0 non compliance or violations. We hope to retain your business in the future.

      I bought a 2015 ***** Tahoe in July for $32000 and took it to ********** days after having it. Betten kept it for over a week and stayed they fixed the idling and headlight however the car still has idling issues and now ticking in the engine. The car wasnt fixed at all and I may not even have a running vehicle for the rest on this year

      The situation is that I bought a car from a dealer called Betten baker Chevrolet Cadillac gmc Buick in Muskegon. Basically I did everything over the phone and started everything around October 1st. When we finally finished everything between finance and organizing pickup, everything was done by October 31st and November 2nd the car was picked up and delivered to me on November 5th. I received my car with a dealer transaction for a temporary title and a temporary registration along with a temporary registration. I never received a title with the paperwork only a temporary registration and temporary plate. The temporary plate said it expired January 1st **** and was then waiting for the plates to arrive from dmv or the dealer wondering if it was taking too long because of all the holidays. I then called them wondering where they are and I called them about 20 times and received maybe one call back. I then found out that I need to pay a property tax bill and than dmv told me that they couldn't do anything because the car was titled and registered in ********. I then called them back for about a week leaving voice mails and no response back. Then I heard back from them once saying basically they are trying their best even though the dealer and the third party company should have done this once the bill of sale was finalized. The third party company they used was named ATC at ************************************************************************************. The company that the dealer uses is for registering the car out of state so the company and the dealer made me sign a limited power of attorney stating that the can go to dmv on my behalf. The car is supposed to be registered and titled in **************. I recently paid the property tax bill and Im already paying with the payments on the car and insurance. Today is January 22 and I can still no longer drive a car, they also told me that they cant file for a new temporary plate so I can drive the car to my car is un-drivable.

      We are dishearted to hear that ************** does not have this issue resolved; however, Betten Baker Muskegon fulfilled our responsibility to forward the requested paperwork to ATC who handled the out-of-state paperwork.  At the time the request was made, ************** would not issue the title because he had an issue with taxes.  Our dealership fulfilled our requirements for this deal and this complaint is between he and ATC.   We hope that he is able to come to a resolution with ATC.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      The third party company named ATC that you as the dealership hired to file out of state registration for new cars didnt tell you or message me that I needed to pay the property taxes within those two months of having my temporary. Let alone I did not hire ATC, the dealership assigned them to my car because they personally dont know how to file out of state registration. Me as a consumer had nothing to do with your third-party company and as a consumer should have been told of what I needed to do especially from the third-party company. The fact that once I get a new car within two months I as the consumer should have received the plates during this time unless told differently. Like I stated before and like I shall state again I did not hire ATC, the dealership hired ATC. The dealership has a duty and an obligation to message ATC and ATC has a duty and an obligation to message the dealership regarding any problems registering a brand new car. Let alone as a consumer and gave the dealership the money, the dealership then gave me a car and promised to give me my plates and registration in return. Let alone the fact that the dealership knew the car had a temporary that expired they falsified and failed to provide the consumer a new temporary so as a consumer can still drive the car legally without penalty.

      Well guess what never buy a car from this dealership! I supposed to of had 4 cylinders replaced and plugs and wires back on 31 July 2023. Here at end of October my check engine light comes back on and it sluggish. I contacted Betten waited til my pay day so i had diagnosed money and extra for what ever it might be. Who woukd think it would be bad plugs again? I got the date took it in and waited well the whole day goes by and i call them they said they didn't know when they would get to it because they only had 1 jeep tec. They were very busy it might be a few days. I like yo i need my car i cannot go few days with out it. They said i can take it to jeep. So that what i did. They said that it was plugs they were able to look at it a little. I take it to jeep they were like your plugs were not new and never changed. That i needed new plugs. I took a picture showd them the paperwork of my plugs supposed to of been changed on 31 july 2023. Clearly it looks like they were not chagrd. Here it is 3 moths later and i have to pay to have plugs done again. Here my thoughts. They knew my olugs were bad, they didn't want to admit that they didn't do a job i paid for so they send me down to jeep. What some very shady people man. Never use there service department never buy from there car lot. I have had nothing but a totally junk car i making payments on in 8 months it been in the shop 4 times with 3 of them needing work. I have the paperwork to prove everything i am saying. I went back to Betten to adk why they didn't do a job i paid for but the guy said that **** did do ot. If they did then why am i back getting them done agin in 3 months? ****** me this? Why did i have to change plugs again in 3 months?Basically they didn't do a job they were supposed to do and i paid for. I have proof also.

      I bought a car and have constantly had issues with it since I got the car in December and company will not make a resolution to my issue. Even though the warranty covered everything SO FAR the issues I will have in the long run because of the make and model of the vehicle will cause me to have elongated issues in the near future after the warranty ends. Therefor someone there should have told me this make/model has been known for the issues that I have had otherwise I would have not gotten that specific vehicle

      Bought ****************** feb 2022. Its now June 2023 and my transmission just went out. Also was supposed to have a warranty that was only covered to ***** and was SUPPOSED TO be til November 2023 but agreed upon when purchased it was a 2 year warranty. Needed a RELIABLE vehicle as I have small children to transport. So much for reliable! Now Im stuck with 5 more years of this loan and NO transportation. They KNEW the transmission was going out and still sold the car. Mind you its only at ****** miles! CROOKS!!

      Bought vehicle from betten baker GMC in ******** on ***** st for **** upon looking at vehicle was told by salesman that they had just put new front brakes and rotors and pads on it so we told them in order to make to deal we wanted a new set of tires as well which the salesman (*****************) decided to have put on but through a third party and was told every thing was good drove the car not even 500 miles and front brakes locked up and was smoking and rotors were cherry red called dealership ****** told me not to fix the brakes as they are warranty and if I fix them they will not cover so then the weekend goes by no return call finally got a hold of them and ****** and used car manager said they were then not fixing them and to deal with it myself so upon that ****** gave me the name phone number and address of previous owner so I called her to ask if she had issues with them before she said yes then went back and told him this and was then told we never put brakes on it after he said they did and this was a known safety issue but still decided to sell my wife and I the car knowing there was a safety issue then through text and multiple calls to dealership still nothing and so betten called police and said I can not contact the dealership anymore and to filee with bbb and take it to court they also told the original owner I was a stalker and a bad person wich I have proof of all this but they still want to deny it and told original owner I got her info off of internet wich I did not betten baker gave it to me and told me they don't care anymore so now I have a **** dollar car thats inop over a 400 dollar parts that are warranty to make right was then told as well that my wife and I are liars and the car also never got new tires on it but when we picked it up it did throughout the day was trying to get issue resolved but again just a run around story and constantly being told lies and being hung up on multiple times I want this matter to be resolved and fixed

      on 01/02/2023 myself and my husband were riding around looking at cars and seen a car on the Betten Baker lot. As we were looking into the windows ******** a sales person approached us. I was asking him on the cost of the vehicle, mileage and wanting details he could provide. He tells me that we have to go inside to get the information. We go inside and he is asking me questions. I specifically told him that I just wanted information and did not want my credit ran as i had a pre approval from ************ as I was waiting for him to get the cost and other information on the vehicle I started to get alerts from Creditwise advising Betten Baker was running my credit. I got up and took off looking for ********. When I found him he was with another man. I immediately inquired why did you run my credit I specifically told you not too. He then said oh will they have to to give you pricing. I was furious and we started to leave as I was yelling at him that he had no right. He followed us outside apologizing but as I told him the damage was done and they needed to take the hard inquiry of my credit report as the ran me thru 4 different banks without my permission. I have called to Betten Baker Cooperville where he told me there main office was. I got no results and was transferred to the GM's voicemail where I left a message and no one called me back. I have tried to call again and was told that the location I was trying to file a complaint was actually the main office. I called back and the receptionist sent me back to the GM's voicemail.
