On April 24, 2024, we signed a contract with Dot USA Remodel, LLC for agreed upon home remodeling services. The owner, *************************, laid out the timeframe of payments and services as follows: 4 installments of 25% payment for 25% of the project completed. To date, he has completed about 50% of the work for 90% of the funds paid to him for the agreed upon amount and signed estimate. He was very prompt in replying to texts and voice messages in the first month of the project to obtain the funds and then after we paid $8,750 of the total agreed upon amount of $9,750, he has not replied to our repeated text messages and voicemails to complete the project. We became suspicious of the integrity and legitimacy of his company when on 5/17 he asked for an advance of $1,000 for payment on materials and then said he would be out the following business day to complete the work. I received a text message on Saturday, 5/18 after I sent a Zelle payment of that amount to him on 5/17 (was hesitant and against my better judgment), claiming that his Mother-in-Law passed away and would not been able to make it out. Totally understandable if it is true and we gave him the proper time and distance to handle settling her estate and grievance with his wife. We have no idea if he is telling the truth but based on how he was communicating with us early on in our relationship, and then the very limited amount after, we are inclined to believe it is not true and saw this is as a big red flag. We continued to call and text him with little to no response, and when he did reply that he would come out on the day and time he said he would, he never showed up, call, or texted. The other red flag is the address of the business. We have ***** and ********************* along with no website for his company, and phone #s. The BBB has his # as ************** and his # is **************. We have filed a fraud claim with our bank to recover the funds and waiting on their response.
