There was no air conditioning in our hallway. The room's single unit air conditioning was dripping on the floor, damaging the wood. The room was insulated with bath towels under the doors. The general construction appeared shoddy and worn, including a door lock that had been installed crooked across the hall, damaged floors, old key pads for locks, cheap furniture - nothing like what was shown on the website. There were no other customers, no directions at the entrance or in the room about how to get anywhere in the hotel. As we were leaving, a man drove up and identified himself as the manager. When I said we would be making other arrangements, he did not offer any other rooms. When I asked for a timeline for getting an answer on a refund, he would not offer one. When I asked that he call me back when the owners had made a decision about refunding my money he said he would. He didn't. I called back the next day and he said there would be no refund. I read deeper into the hotel's policy. It states there will be no refund if requested within 14 days of the reservation. However, in this case, the hotel accommodations were sub par, and I did not feel safe spending the night there with my wife.
