Terrible customer service. If you voice concern, frustration, point out flaws. He states he feels "threatened" and that is how he gets out of standing behind his work. He should never gain BBB accreditation as he does not communicated until the social media platform demands his response/attention. He does not deal well with customer disapproval. He cannot keep story lines straight. He threatens to call law enforcement on his customers? He truly is an inexperienced "contractor" who hires things out. When his subs made errors he states it is your house "settling" but there are no drywall cracks to go along with that theory?? The true story is our floor was not prepped properly and our LVP flooring install is terrible as a result our floor is completely unlevel. We have Random cardboard shims in places? This floor should have been prepped to industry standards but was not. He states we are "unreasonable" and he cannot work with us. Great excuse to do crap work and get away with it. Stay away from this "contractor" as he calls himself.

Gautsche & Sons Contractors, LLC Response

Gautsche & Sons Contractors installed this customer's floor on September 14th, 2020. This was a 3 week long project with 2,584/sqft of flooring and a staircase with 13 treads. I worked with the homeowners to get a better deal on their CoreTec LVP flooring, communicated every step along the way with installation updates, product updates, and timelines. There was an issue with the way the stairs turned out after we communicated how they would look, the customer did not approve it so we tore them out and reinstalled at no charge. At the time we had a 1 year warranty on our installation and the contract was signed by both homeowners and initialed at each warranty and disclaimer listed on the contract. At the time of install the home was not conditioned and the HVAC and electrical was not hooked up. We discussed potential issues with the floor and home once the floor has been installed. In 2021 there were some minor repairs that needed to be done and the owner personally went out there to fix. We also brought another flooring contractor out to reglue the stairnosing back in place with a special vinyl glue. There was a concern about the bar area, 154/sqft, with the floor not being flat and was lifting off the concrete. The floor that was installed was a floating installation. This was first brought to my attention in March of 2022. It took me 6 business days to respond to an email and in the meantime the customer went to social media asking if Gautsche and Sons was still open. Stating they had issues with their floor and said we would fix it months ago. I replied to their email, we set up a day to stop over and look at the floor. We discussed a plan to remove the floor, put down a self leveler, install the floor, reinstall the base shoe and paint. I stated we would purchase the new flooring, self leveler and I would pay for all the labor. Keep in mind we are now out of the warranty period. Our last email conversation was in September of 2022 and I had set up a date to get the repairs done. There was an issue with the cabinets in the bar area and we had put the repairs on hold till that was fixed. It was later brought to my attention that it took the insurance company 1 and a half years to approve the cabinet claim. I've worked with a lot of insurance companies at my previous employer doing storm damage repairs for roofs sidings and windows and a claim never took that long. I never heard from the customer till January 14th, 2023 when they texted me with pictures with the floor torn out and wanted compensation for the repairs. I admitted we made a mistake during the initial installation and used the packaging from the flooring boxes to fill a 1/4" dip in the floor that was 30" wide and 6' long, approximately. Again, we had purchased all the materials and had the labor set up to fix the issue in the bar area alone back in October of 2021. I was unaware they hired another flooring contractor to come in and address the issue. From the very first time we met back in 2020 we had a good working relationship and after the floor was installed, Shelia, the homeowner became very aggressive when she talked to me and wanted answers immediately. I will not go into all the details with all the emails and text messages I've received. Not the right way to ask for help. I was given ultimatums to ether pay for the damages or my name was going to be spread over social media. I've owned my business for 7 years and have always stood by my work and my business. I've never walked away from a job not matter if it costed me extra money or time. These customers became very hard to communicate with and I don't appreciate when Shelia talked to me in a derogatory way and made demands to ask for help. I am a General Contractor and use sub contractors. Most of them have been with me for 7 years or longer. I had major back surgery back in 2019 so I'm not able to be part of the physical demands on our projects. The flooring installer has over 20 years experience installing floors. Homes settle and move, especially during the first year of a new build. Concrete can settle without drywall cracking. Floating LVP floors do not always lay flat on wood subfloors or concrete slabs unless they are glued down. Every flooring manufacture allows a tolerance that ranges from 1/8-3/16" in a 6' radius. No floor is "level". It's easy for customers to give bad reviews about contractors and most of them deserve it. But in my case I tried to make it right and stood by the job. I had to separate myself from these homeowners because of how rude and disrespectful they are to me and also made comments about my wife!
