The worst experience with the Raritan branch.My parents have had a ***** account at this bank since the early 1970s. Never missed any payments, never had a single issue with credit or anything else. My dad passed away at the end of May 2024. I received a call from the bank 2 weeks after we buried him to tell me that we were in violation of bank policy and that they were closing my parents ***** account. My mother, as a joint owner, was no longer allowed access to the ***** account. because my dad was decesased. The funds would have to transfer to a new account which meant all direct deposits and auto bill pays needed to be changed.I asked them to give me some time to get all the direct deposits and bill payments changed, they REFUSED.I lost my husband many years ago and DID NOT have to close our joint accounts. I also checked with 2 other banks I do business with, and they allow surviving spouse to keep their ***** accounts open. In other words, this bank is purposely making our life h*** ... after 50 yrs of doing business with them.In addition, the old people that run the place, keep their noses in your personal finances and think they know something about you by what you keep in your accounts at their bank. The bank manager had the odacity to "instruct" me on how to endorse a check, as if it were a task that I had never done before (how condescending). They should all be fired and some people who actually know how to use computers should be brought in.DO NOT USE THIS BANK. Very antiquated, very restrictive policies, very judgemental people. Aside from the fact that their mobile app and online services are deficient. It takes HOURS to get anything done in person (they still use all paper forms, which they summarily proceed to lose).
