I brought my 2014 ***** Tahoe in for a front passenger airbag recall at 9:00 a.m. on a Thursday Jan.2023 after receiving a recall notice by mail. The notice states that GM is committed to quality products and customer satisfaction. This service will be preformed at no charge to me the owner. After making an appointment I brought my Tahoe in and the customer service rep. asked me what I was bring it in for and I told him to replace that front passenger airbag that I got a notice for. He then asked me if my dashboard was cracked and I told him no it was not and asked why he had asked my that question. He said because they usually are cracked. I told him mine was not cracked and we could verify it, he asked when I needed it by, I said noon. He just told me to have a seat in the next room. I was told that they would call me to let me know when it was finished. I called them at 12:45 ********* told me it was ready. after waiting 30 minutes after they said it was being brought outside they then had to call the service ***** and ask them to bring my car out again. When I got in my car I looked to the top of the passenger side dashboard and noticed a crack leading from the airbag and then a larger crack above the steering wheel which looked like someone had pressed down on the dashboard causing it to crack. I notified the customer rep. who called the service tech that performed the service who told me he took a pic. of the dash board before he started and it was cracked. I had said to the customer tech whom asked me about the dash that it was not cracked before service. The tech called me a liar in front of manager. The manager said he was sorry and that he would look at it with me outside. He confirmed that in fact I was correct and he would call me later. He left me a message on my cell saying that GM is not responsible for cracked dashboards during servicing!!! I can't believe that they would treat customers like this!!!!

This is a GM issue as they only cover the actual airbag to be replaced not any deterioration on an older car caused by age aging and sun damage.

This was not deterioration on an older car caused by age aging and sun damage this was a crack by the dealer's installer forcefully pushing down. How does a person take there car in for a recall with no damage to the dashboard and receive the car back with a cracked dashboard? I found it strange that the service tech asked me if my dashboard was cracked before they even looked at my car and now I know that this must have happened to other customers because of carelessness of this dealership! I will never take my car to this dealership again! This is the worst customer service I have ever received from any dealership!!!
