Do NOT use MBM Remodeling and Painting from Cleveland Ohio. These people cannot be trusted. I needed some masonry brickwork done to fix structural problems with a detached brick/block garage, and I put out a request on the app Nextdoor for referrals. MBM came out right away, said they had a break in the schedule due to a cancellation, provided an estimate on what needed to be done, said they could get started right away, and be done in 3 days. Very confident, seemed professional, and the 3 brothers were really trying to make a name for their company. I fell for it. After providing a down payment for materials, and before work began, they noticed that there were some other issues that needed to be resolved, bumped up the estimate, and asked for more money to cover the materials. I trustingly provided additional money. After several days of not doing any of the work in the way it was explained, workers finally showed up, started to break down the wall requiring the structural repairs without having any of the promised and necessary structural supports in place. The owner then also stated that they once again needed some additional money to pay these workers as they were "more expensive". Once again, I provided the owner with additional money. They worked for about an hour before leaving without even letting me know. I called the owner, and he stated that they had to return the equipment they were using to Home Depot and would be back the next day and would complete the job. I expressed my frustration and was told not to worry, that they would be back out the next day and get the job done. Meanwhile, I checked on the materials that were needed to do the work, and they were not even present. The owner said they were in his truck and they would bring them. The next day came, and I told the owner that I felt like I was being taken advantage of and that I wanted to cancel the job. He said that he was sorry I felt that way, and would give me $500 back (out of $5800) and would bring the materials. When he arrived, the materials he left were not what was promised - they were the wrong bricks and blocks for the job, not enough of them, and also other materials promised were not provided. The steel beam that was critical was not even the right one and was a fraction of the size of the one needed. When I asked for receipts the owner said that he did not keep receipts. I checked on the cost of the materials and at most the cost was $500. So I am out $5300, I'm stuck with useless materials of no value, and I had to pay a reputable person $500 in materials and labor to build a structural support to prevent the possibility of the garage collapsing due to the bricks and blocks that were cut out without having supports in place. I'm filing this review in hopes that this does not happen to anyone else, I'm embarrassed that I was taken advantage of, especially over the holidays. These people cannot be trusted.
