Mission Electric Response
12/23/2023
I'm sorry that this situation didn't go very well for the customer. While it's true, I was there for six hours trying to deal with this problem, the basement wiring was in a very dangerous condition when I arrived. There were significant problems, the existing wiring had been installed in a very “shoddy” and unsafe manner. The customer told me that there were “weird electrical things” going on and that a breaker blew and her son said it “smelled funny before it blew out.” There were significant safety issues that needed addressed before I arrived.I did the best I could do attempting to make the repair. At one point I thought I had diagnosed the problem and a made the trip to the store to get needed materials, made the repair only to discover there was now a problem in a different area of the basement. I traced the suspected additional faulty wiring to a box that contained several light switches. As soon as I started removing the switches, in order to attempt to locate the problem, the power in the customers Daughter's bedroom stopped working. At this point, I decided it would be best to step away from the job and return in the morning to continue troubleshooting the situation (it was apparent that a good portion of the basement would need to be rewired for safety reasons, I wasn't just going to leave it the way it was). I also made sure the breaker was turned off before I left since there were exposed wires. When I explained this to the customer, she decided that she would rather call someone else to complete the job, I left, obviously unpaid for either my labor ,or the materials I had purchased and installed.
