In 2011 my son had dental work done and for some reason they didn’t file it on my insurance. They sent me a bill. My wife told them to submit it to our insurance. They continued to send bills and added late fees and interest to the original amount that has increased to more than 400% of the original amount. I am filing this complaint because they have hired a collections company and have caused negative results on my credit report. According to Ga code (OCGA 9-3-25) this account cannot be collected after 4 years. This has been at least 11 yrs and has been sent a collections company. If this continues I will be forced to take more extreme actions.

      Business response

      11/21/2022

I am replying to the complaint from *** ******. ID: ********

*** ****** has made several misleading claims in his complaint.  First, he has claimed that the last time his children were in our office was in 2011.  However, it was actually 2016 when his children were last seen in our practice. Also, he is referring to a Georgia code of statute of limitations, perhaps because he lives in Georgia.   Our professional practice is located in Tennessee. So, it is still within the statute of limitations to collect on his outstanding debt.

*** ****** is also claiming it was not filed with his insurance, however, it was. Back in 2015, under the insurance we had on file for his children, they were not eligible during the specific dates of service.   Therefore, a balance remained on the account. We continued to see the children all the way through 2016, carrying the balance while payments were being made here and there on the account by the responsible party. Eventually new insurance was presented to our office covering the 2016 dates of service. However, it would not cover the past dates of service from 2015. On 6/29/16 *** ****** was in our office with his children and the balance was discussed with him.  I explained to him that insurance was showing the children were not eligible. Many attempts and letter were sent trying to collect on the outstanding balance. A large portion of the balance is finance charges that has accrued. Our practice administrator is willing to adjust the finance charges off the account if the balance due is paid in full in a timely manner.”
