My husband passes away and my electricity was cut off because they changed their auto pay system and was emailing him to call and set auto up again. Obviously I could not get his emails. They charged me *** to turn my electricity back on and told me that I have to come in person and bring a death certificate and two forms of id or they would cut my electricity off and they would not turn it back on. I have always used the same bank account. The only organizations that need death certificates is the irs and social security. This is insulting. My name is on the bank account as well. Who are they to demand a death certificate and charge me *** when I cannot retrieve my dead husbands emails. Absolutely disgusting and shameful

Providing a death certificate allows a name change to be completed on the account free of charge for the next of kin. The reconnection of ****** was waived due to the delayed customer enrollment for autopay due to a recent software conversion. In addition, the penalty was waived due to the same reason. Services were restored at time of payment. It is the member's responsibility to update any changes in contact method or account ownership. It is encouraged that the customer proceed with providing documentation to complete the name change and assume legal account ownership to avoid potential service issues in the future.
