BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.
On February 9, 2023, BBB contacted Freenet Health Corp. regarding advertised claims on their website https://askmindi.com.
Freenet Health Corp. advertises testimonials on its website.
Code of Advertising states in general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if it is not genuine and does not actually represent the current opinion of the endorser. If a consumer’s experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be.
Freenet Health Corp. responded the current reviews on their website are currently placeholders. Freenet Health Corp. provided BBB with copies of customer testimonials from Survey Monkey but has not updated their website to date reflecting testimonials from their actual customers.
Freenet Health Corp also advertised they were “The Nation’s First Curator of Independent Healthcare.”
BBB Code of Advertising states superlative statements in advertisements about the tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service are objective claims for which the advertiser must possess substantiation as they can be based upon accepted standards or tests. As statements of fact, such claims, like “#1 in new car sales in the city,” can be proved or disproved. Freenet Health Corp has discontinued the advertised claim.
Finally, Freenet Health Corp. advertises supplements from Xymogen, health products, and other supplement products from different brands claiming various results of their products. BBB requested Freenet Health Corp. provide substantiation from the manufacturers' claimed results advertised in their descriptions including providing substantiation of bioavailability regarding Hemp Oil Tinctures from Med7.
BBB found the evidence provided only a verified certificate of analysis and did not provide evidence of human clinical trials as needed to substantiate any bioavailability claims.
Freenet Health Corp. also provided research on various products. BBB found that many of the studies provided were not for the specific product and many product claims still required further exploratory studies to support large clinical trials.
Freenet Health Corp failed to substantiate, modify, or discontinue the advertised claims.
