Additional business information
BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers clearer to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements. On September 11, 2024, BBB contacted Word 1st Private Corp regarding advertised claims on their website https://www.word-first.com/. Claimed Results. Their website stated, “Increase Your attendance Rate by 15%” and “ELIMINATE 95% OF YOUR PROCESSING FEES.” BBB Code of Advertising states, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data, and that upon request, advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made. BBB requested Word 1st Private Corp to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data. BBB requested If substantiation cannot be provided, these and all other similar claims be discontinued.
Satisfaction Guarantee. Their website stated, “Full Satisfaction Guarantee”. BBB Code of Advertising states, advertisers should only use “satisfaction guarantee”, “money back guarantee”, “free trial offer”, or similar representations in advertising if the seller or manufacturer refunds the full purchase price of the advertised product or service at the consumer’s request. BBB requested Word 1st Private Corp clarify in their response if they offer full refunds for any reason a customer may be dissatisfied.
Credit. Their website stated, “$150, 000 GUARANTEED FUNDING” and “HOME OF THE GUARANTEED BUSINESS FINANCING” and “GUARANTEE
• $150,000 FUNDING (MINIMUM)
• $50,000 BUSINESS CREDIT CARDS
• COMPLETE CORPORATE SETUP
• BUSINESS CREDIT REPORTS & MONITORING
• WEBSITE, LOGO, LANDING PAGE, HOSTING
• ESTABLISHED BANK RELATIONSHIPS
• 0% INTEREST 9-24 MONTHS
• & MORE
Their website also stated, “MERCHANT & AR FINANCING NO CREDIT NEEDED. 24 HOUR FINANCING”. BBB Code of Advertising states, whenever a specific credit term is advertised, it must actually be available to all consumers. The federal Truth in Lending Act, as well as applicable state and provincial laws set requirements for clearly and conspicuously disclosing credit terms in the advertisement. Additionally, BBB Code of Advertising states, “the words “no credit rejected”, “guaranteed financing”, “all credit applications accepted” or words of similar import can imply that consumer credit will be extended to anyone regardless of the consumer’s credit worthiness or financial ability to pay. They must only be used when all credit requests are approved. BBB requested clarification and substantiation for their claims.
Objective Superlative Claim. Word 1st Private Corp’s website stated, “We are the #1 provider of video creation and ready to serve you!”. BBB attempts to ensure a fair playing field in advertising by advising businesses to make claims that are supported by facts rather than opinion. BBB is in no way indicating that the above claim is false. However, based on national advertising standards, a company should be able to substantiate all of its claims. BBB Code of Advertising states, superlative statements in advertisements about the tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service are objective claims for which the advertiser must possess substantiation as they can be based upon accepted standards or tests. As statements of fact, such claims, like “#1 in new car sales in the city,” can be proved or disproved by contacting the car manufacturer. BBB requested Word 1st Private Corp provide actual supporting data to prove all statements in their advertisement.
Basic Principles. Their website stated, “We are Certified & Experienced.” BBB Code of Advertising states: The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB. BBB requested Word 1st Private Corp to substantiate the certification(s) by providing documents of certification(s). As of 10/4/2024 the business has not responded to BBB requests, but they did take down their website: https://www.word-first.com/.
