To BBB,
According to ******* ******** ******** ******* ********* “uses thermal energy that targets and destroys the sweat glands, odor glands, and hair follicles in the underarm. Once those glands are eliminated, they do not grow back”. I spoke by phone with Patricia ******** the owner of Selah Medi-Spa in Katy, Texas on Friday afternoon, June 24th, 2022 around 2:30pm. I was inquiring about the ******* treatment for my daughter. **** ********* spa business is one of the providers with the ******* company. So during this phone conversation with Mrs. ******** she emphasized the effectiveness and success rate of the ******* treatment at her spa business. She focused on stressing that “no one ever has to come back for a second treatment during all my years here”. Because of this particular statement from her, I was convinced that this supposed one-time expensive spending of $1400 she was asking for would be justified and worth it. So I took her words and believed them. After the phone call, we made the long drive to her spa right away. We arrived after the spa’s normal business hours for the day. The receptionist required us to make a full immediate payment within minutes of our arrival because it was after business hours and the technician was “waiting on us to start the treatment”. The technician’s name is Melissa. She used the smallest size of the pamphlet for my daughter’s underarm. The pamphlet serves as a treatment guide which leads the treatment head to the needed treatment areas. So it takes proper training, experience and knowledge of the technician to select the proper size of the pamphlet. My daughter is a life-long swimmer. To be more specific, she is a life-long swimmer in particular with butterfly stroke. So she has a broader shoulder and larger areas of armpits than those non-athletes females. Besides that, both of her armpits were/are hairless because she had gone through the laser-hair removal treatments in the past. So there were/are no visible hairlines on both of her armpits. The hairlines can be used as one of the judgments for the technician to determine the size of the treatment areas. But my daughter did not have the noticeable hairlines. So Melissa selected the smallest size of the pamphlet due to her lack of knowledge. As results of that, the treatment did not cover all the areas as supposed to due to the smallest size of the pamphlet. So right after the treatment, we noticed the increased body odor with no reduction in perspirations, especially from the left armpit. (I did not know about the different sizes of the pamphlets until much later after I contacted the ******* company). During the conversation with the technician Melissa when we were at the Spa for the first treatment, I tried to verify with Melisa that she had never done a second treatment for any of her customers (according to **** *******), Melissa said there were customers that needed second treatments. I told her **** ******* stated there were no one ever needed second treatments all those years she has been there. Melissa confirmed again that she had customers that came back for second treatments. At that point, I knew **** ******* had lied to just lure us in. At that point, my realization came too late as the treatment was almost done and **** ********* business had charged me the full amount of the $1399.99. By then, I was just hoping that we would not be the unfortunate one that needing to come back again. After all, it is a risky, invasive and expensive procedure. Sadly, the unfortunate happened. The first treatment completely failed because the treatment was incomplete as only partial area was treated. So the service was not provided as described. We did not know what else to do besides paying the high price and going back again for another treatment. At that point, the body odor especially the left armpit was (still is) so severe that it was at a level my daughter had NEVER experienced prior to the ******* procedure. I spoke with **** ******* by phone again and she said “there is absolutely no one ever needed a third treatment” from her spa. Thinking this statement could be believable as no one can afford this kind of expenses and putting themselves through this invasive procedure, so we went back on Sept. 23rd. (******* company requires a 90- days waiting period between treatments). We arrived around 5:00 pm. The receptionist said she needed to charge me another $1399.99. I told the receptionist that **** ******* had agreed for a discounted price during the phone consultation prior to the first treatment. **** ********* office door was closed and I was right outside of her office. She did not come out to speak to me. But she told the receptionist that she did not offer any discount prices. However, she would agree to drop the price to $1299.99. By that time, I had located the paper with the discounted price $999.99 written and signed by Selah Spa. So she had no option but had to honor the price on the agreement. This is just another example of the untrustworthiness of her words. It was a good thing that I asked the price to be written down when I was there for the first treatment (after I had found out **** ******* lied to me over the phone by stating no one ever needed 2nd treatment from her business for all the years she’s been there). So anyway, before the second treatment started, I asked Melissa if she could start the treatment from the left armpit. The treatment head is a one-time-use disposable tool. I told her the left armpit’s perspiration and body odor was (still is) at a level we had never experienced before. (She started with the right armpit for the first treatment last time when we were there with her). Melissa said the machine would not allow her to start the left armpit first and it was set to start the right arm first. (Later on I learned from the office manager that the treatment can be started from either sides). Melissa’s statement is wrong. This is just another example of her lack of knowledge in the ******* procedure. Again, she used the smaller pamphlet again and not the entire armpit area was treated. Sadly and not hard to imagine, the second treatment had made absolutely no positive changes. The body odor is worse than before. We are stunned by the repeated failures.
I reached out to both **** ******* and Melissa by phone within days after the 2nd treatment. Never once, I could get them on the phone. The message from the receptionist was “they were busy but they would call you back”. But neither of them did. After I repeatedly called and could not get them to even speak with me over the phone, I emailed Melisa on 11/15/2022. Finally, **** ******* responded and basically just lied and denied everything again. We were devastated and shocked by her unethical conducts. But I still wanted and needed to work with her to find a solution and to rescue my daughter from this agony. But **** ******* refused to respond again. Out of devastation, I reached out to ******* company and trying to find the reasons of the repeated failures and seeking for solutions. ******* company was able to look into the details of the two previous treatments and informed me about the sizes of the pamphlets. Knowing I had no other options but to save my daughter from this unexpected agony, I made more countless phone calls to Mrs. ******** I also emailed **** ******* again on 11/29/2022, 12/08/2022, 01/05/2023, 01/23/2023. But **** ******* simply just ignored all my calls and emails. Until 05/04/2023, I was able to get hold of Melisa by phone and I asked her to please put **** ******* on the phone. So **** ******* finally spoke to me by phone six month later after the second failed treatment. **** ******* said I had to pay another $999.99 upfront and she would not discount any. I just wanted to save my daughter from the suffering. So I agreed to pay the third time and get the third treatment done. So the appointment was set for 05/20/2023. I borrowed $1000 from others and prepared for the appointment. I was hopeful that the 3rd treatment would solve the problem as I now know the reasons of the failures from the previous two treatments. Then on 05/17/2023, 3 days prior to the appointment, I suddenly received a text from Selah Medi-Spa with no signature. The text was notifying me that they had canceled our appointment. I texted back and asked who the text was from. No one responded. Then I called and spoke with the office manager. She would not transfer me to **** ******* or Melissa. She said she would pass my messages and ask them to call me back. Still no responses received. I called again on the 18th, no response. Then again on the 19th, still no response from **** *******. I spoke with the office manager again and strongly requested her to let **** ******* know that she needs to respond and communicate with me directly. But **** ******* continues to refuse to respond. The office manager notified me that she could not do anything to help our situation without the authorization from **** ******* and she said that I had contacted ******* Company on them. After two risky but failed procedures, am I not supposed to seek guidance and solutions from the company? Is it unreasonable for any customers to have expectations after paying $2400?
We have been left with no other options but to seek assistance from BBB. Selah Medi-Spa failed to provide the services as described for both times. Now they are refusing the 3rd treatment after they have taken $2400 from me because I reached out to the ******* company for guidance. We have never signed any agreements to consent Selah MediSpa to torture us in this inhuman way. Selah MediSpa have never said that they would refuse any follow up treatments if the prior treatments were ineffective. So I am asking for BBB’s assistance and demanding the refunds from Selah Medi-Spa for the $1399.99 from 06/24/2022 and $999.99 from 09/23//2022.
I have attached a couple of Selah MediSpa customers’ reviews below.
* ** ***** ** 12/5/2021
I am not commonly one to leave a negative review but I feel that all patients should read this.
It has been almost a few weeks now and my fingers continue to be extremely numb to the point they feel almost paralyzed from a procedure that was done here. They might tell you "that's a potential complication you signed off of" but as someone who is training in the medical field, I am telling you now, please do not come here.
Please do your research on a website called ******** where you will see there are board-certified plastic surgeons and dermatologists before committing to a procedure instead of reading reviews on google and yelp. This place has no board-certified physician trained in plastics or even any doctor in that matter.
I don't care how appealing the prices seem and how friendly the staff is, do not come here. Please have your procedure done by a board-certified physician or at least in a clinic where there is one physically present to oversee your procedure. Not only does this place not have a board-certified plastic surgeon overseeing treatments, but they also DO NOT EVEN HAVE A DOCTOR PHYSICALLY IN OFFICE TO OVERSEE YOUR PROCEDURE OR ANY COMPLICATIONS THAT MIGHT ARISE. Sure, some patients might be lucky enough to not have complications. I thought I was one of them. I was wrong.
We had challenges during my appointment and this office did not have a protocol for when such challenges arise. Fortunately, MY TRAINING in the medical field allowed me to offer a suggestion that actually worked. Why didn't the office have a protocol? The person was not trained for such situations BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE A MEDICAL LICENSE.
I came home with an entirely paralyzed arm after having a procedure called *******. I couldn't even drive after my treatment. I cried after leaving the office. Everyone here kept telling me "it's normal". However, after a week, I continued to have numbness in my right fingers (MY DOMINANT HAND) and after calling the office, they kept saying its normal? I wanted to speak with a doctor but they didn't even have one to talk to me. I was even informed by the owner, Tricia, that speaking with a physician would not help?? Excuse me, I am in this field, yes it absolutely would. They understand layers of anatomy and that MY MEDIAN NERVE WAS COMPRESSED (which she didn't even know anything about). What did I do? I sought at-home suggestions on ******** from people who are BOARD CERTIFIED MEDICAL PHYSICIANS. But I shouldn't have had to do that! The office I got my procedure should have had one for me to speak with.
And please don't bother responding to this review apologizing or making excuses. I won't waste my time reading it. What's done is done.
And yes I had to dictate this note because I could not use my freaking fingers. Avoid this place at all costs. ***** **

This is the worse place ever. Don't even waste your money going there, it’s a waste of time and money.
***** ** ***** ** First to Review
If there was a less than one star I would have chosen it. I went to Selah because of the price of their Botox. I had 42 units injected into my forehead and a month later, you cannot tell that I even HAD it done. I called after talking to a dermatologist ( who said I obviously had a bad years ago, and the dermatologist gladly redid it for FREE as it wasn't my fault. Since coming to Katy, I've tried to find a place with reasonable prices for Botox and chose Selah Medi Spa. What a mistake. The new dermatologist I found will be who I use from now on- who by the way- would never pull a stunt like this. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. There are too many other places in this area who stand behind their work and product.batch) to see if they would be willing to make it right. Instead, I was told that I was probably one of the "10%" who become immune to the protein in Botox and that I should try another product. So they expected me to pay another 400 dollars for something else that may or may not work..... That was their solution. I will never go to a place that doesn't stand behind their product* ****** ** ******** **

Something strange is going on at the spa these days. I have been going there for several years, but I could tell something was "off" during my last visit. Far too much whispering and conversations going on behind closed doors. Unfortunately, I won't be going back.

I am so frustrated and sad about my results, I spent a lot of time in with the tech who is amazing BTW, but the results are bogus at best!
I walked away extremely sore and actually have put on weight which was not my intentions.
I was considering them for lip injections but idk if that is an option now. $1500 later and WOW, nothing!

Terrible Experience.. Was given the run around & still no results……… *** ** ******** **
Updated review
……. I went through 7 treatments and $375 later=no results whatsoever……
**** ** ***** ** 5/20/2022
I give them a 2 star because I am not even a patient…….. I really wanted to
Give this place a try but after this terrible experience I can not even imagine what it is like to be a patient. Bad business means bad service…. After reading these reviews I am happy I decided not to ever schedule an appointment with this place again….
• ***** ** ******** ** They didn't tell me that I can't wait more than 30 days in between shots! All of my remaining BB shots were "forfeited" because I got sick and could not come. I had to make sure I was healthy and cleared by the doctor. I only got to use half of the package I purchased. Do not purchase their packages! ****** ** ********* **
Not easy to do business with. I called to book an appointment and had to wait for a call back because they were in a meeting and the person who answered the phone couldn't schedule. My appointment was rescheduled three times because there is only 1 masseuse and she was injured in a collision. My appointments were canceled on the day of within 5 hours of me arriving. Their gift cards expire within 30 days which is amazing considering there is no staff readily available. This is why I stick to reputable spas like ******* ** ****** ****** ** *********** ** * *** ******** injected in my nasolabial folds almost three weeks ago. This was my first time here, as I recently moved from Dallas. I have been getting fillers for years. This was the worst. I had never experienced such horrible bruising or swelling, and I only had one syringe. My smile on the right side is off, I have an extra line and lumpy appearance to go with it. Also, when I set the appointment I was given one price, and at checkout I was charged more. There was a surprise injection fee and new patient fee.

******* ** ***** ** WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! RUDE!!! Came here for a facial with microderm purchased from *******. Got an appointment after 3 attempts due to very few open slots. Their aesthetician only works 2-3 times a week. I arrived on time for my appointment and waited 45 mins in the waiting room only to tell me that they cannot honor the ******* deal that I purchased because it's for 1st time clients only. Maybe I made a mistake of not reading the fine print that it was for 1st time clients only but at least they should have let me know this prior to booking an appointment and I had to wait 45 mins before they drop the bombshell! I did not even get an apology from these rude people. SHOUT OUT TO THE OWNER: TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE ON PROPER CUSTOMER SKILLS!

Never open when I am available. Bought massage. Prepaid. Will not honor. Not open this Friday, only day I can do the special. Not intelligent receptionist. Just sucky all around ******* ** ***** **
Surprised the business that does not exist without luxuries of the community treat customers like they are non existent. Would recommend that you survey other similar establishments before committing to this place.
* ****** ** So disappointed. My friend and I went to get Botox. We usually get it done every 9-12 months on the brow, outer eye and glabellas. He had 30 units and I had 20. 3 weeks later we had TONS of movement. We went back and they sold us more. He another 10 and I had another 10. (Keep in mind I have been doing this for 10 years and have NEVER EVER needed more than 25 units to freeze my forehead and lift my brow). 4 weeks later WE BOTH STILL have movement and I am booking an appointment with another medispa. In my opinion, the nurse who does injections was a slick talking salesman who pushed more Botox on us when she simply didn't do it correctly in the first place. I would urge everyone reading this to avoid AT ALL COSTS going to Selah MediSpa. Either they are injecting something substandard or the nurse doesn't know what she is doing.....maybe that's why she talks THE WHOLE TIME....to keep the client distracted. Avoid this place!!

Not a great service... Had to wait for long... And the therapist was bad at the massage and had nails which were piercing into my body during massage... Not a great place to be!
