Working with Blair Young Construction was frustrating and disappointing. The sub-contractor's work was fine, but the project management was terrible. The five-month project took more than a year. The budget presented omitted basic items that a first-year construction student should have known to include. The project went $80,000+ over budget and was still not completed, we finally had to cut the company off, leaving us with a mess that is still tens of thousands of dollars to complete. Design decisions were made without our consultation. Budget overruns were made without change orders or even our knowledge, but we were still held responsible for them. Unexplained deductions were made from the contingency line item. Our property was damaged or destroyed and not repaired. Communication from the owner and project manager was lacking and they were not on the same page. The owner tried pressuring us into issuing the final payment before all work was completed and final inspections conducted. Lastly, the owner threatened to extort more money from us when I asked for a repair be made that the company was 100% responsible for. We wish we had never worked with Blair Young Construction.
