Horrible business practices. On Wednesday March 6, 2024 at 10:00a.m my elderly father's electricity at his residence was disconnected without Notice. WITHOUT DISCONNECT NOTICE. Recently my Father fell victim to identity theft where his personal information along with his identity was sold on the black web. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the crime Dad had to cancel his current bank accounts which also cancelled his automatic drafts that were being drafted from his bank account. When Dad called to pay a $400 balance on his account the employee took his payment information leading him To believe the service will soon be restored, he has been a customer who has never had a disconnection for over 10 years. sadly, after waiting all day for service, I called to check status of the account. At that time the employee without regards to my father's credibility of being a longtime faithful customer or the fact he was repairing the catastrophes from the effect of identity theft, I was told regardless of anything he has to use as an excuse for not paying the fact of the matter is that an extra $600 has to be paid, that is in addition to the $400 bill that was paid immediately upon disconnect. The employee told me it's their policy to charge another deposit and reconnect fee. She told me that upon paying for reconnect after a disconnection that they're not obligated to explain the policies to the customer at the time payment received to restore services it is necessary to get the payment from the customer and afterwards explain to the customer that additional fees were to be paid. They're not willing to take half of the amount to restore they don't care my father is disabled they deny the fact that a disconnect notice has never been issued to my father's address and the last bill states that the due date is March 16. My disabled father's is without electricity and cannot afford the charges. Is this even legal? Shouldn't a disconnect notice be first?
