On March 21 I notified the apartments ****** owned by Boyd Homes of my 30 day notice to vacate. Following this email, I received an email on April 1st from the assistant property manager stating that I must return the keys to the apartment no later than April 9th and also stated the lease break fee of ********* due. After receiving this, My husband and I went to the front office on April 4th to ask the leasing agent of the total amount due upon move out including the lease break fee, pro rate rent, as well any other fees. The total due was ********* after receiving a print out of all expenses associated with this amount. It was then paid immediately. I moved out of the apartment on time and returned keys the following day after multiple pictures of the unit. We only had the apartment for approximately 3 months. On April 20 we then received a statement in the mail of additional charges due totaling ******** This charge included additional utilities being billed which is normal, However they also included Professional Carpet cleaning of ******* Professional Apartment Cleaning of ******** A Bathroom Vanity Countertop Refinish of ******** And a Fee to fulfill notice 4/10/XXXX - X/21/2022 of ******** The apartments have refused to show receipt of these charges. The fee to fulfill notice is what were assuming to be a back charge for incorrectly telling us previously the total amount due and penalizing us for moving out on April 9th, when we were told to by the assistant property manager. WE SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR AN ERROR THEY MADE. During my stay there, they also refused to fix issues with the apartment, such as fowl smelling water, the electric being grossly overcharged, a broken faucet, and a crooked toilet that leaked. We have pictures of the units condition and the bathroom countertop had no issues. If they continue to refuse to help this situation we are considering legal action. Thank you in advance.
