    Windermere properties took advantage of me!!!!I am a Civilian employee who was brought to Oak Harbor with employment orders. It was a scary process because I am a single mother with two school aged children. I had the task of finding a new home and checking the area and schools during the school year. March 2021, I found the area and a home quickly online and signed my lease digitally sight unseen. Windermere properties rent was fair for the area. Appliances were up to date with no major issues with the home. My troubles started once I received new orders from my employer to leave July 2022. I found out I couldnt use orders to leave because Im not active-duty military. I self-cleaned my home to restore the home to the original condition prior to moving out and paid for the agreed lease recommended carpet cleaning service a day before I moved out. They charged me a fee for early termination of the lease agreement $950 kept my entire deposit $1850 and charge me additional $485 with no proration for the remainder of the month. In the end fees were assessed after I moved out to the sum of $3,285. I regret renting from this company and I would not recommend using their services even though the options are limited. If all possible (beautiful island) but if you can avoid it don't get trapped. #BigBerryLoop #Kat

    We absolutely did not take advantage of her. As she states-she is a CIVILIAN. The military clause only covers the MILITARY. She broke her lease (by 7 months), and the lease clearly states, If Tenant vacates prior to the expiration of the term as identified above, Tenant shall be fully responsible for the rent and all utility and operating costs for the premises until a new, qualified Tenant is secured, or until the end of the term-whichever is earlier. In addition, Tenant shall be responsible to pay the leasing fee and all associated costs to secure a new tenant. I also included that lease language and explained everything in my reply to her emailthis is not new information to her. I dont know why shes now trying to drum up public outcry for breaking the terms of her lease agreement. Instead of lying and trying to gain the system so she can slide one past her property manager (and her active-duty landlord/owner) with her orders just so she can break her lease-be upfront and honest and theyll probably work with her.Furthermore, the home didnt re-rent until October. We only charged her through July, when her lease was through Feb 2023. If she really wants us to follow her lease to the letter-then we can certainly bill her for ********************** other charges on her final accounting were for damage to the home that we had to repair. I wish I could attach photos of how dirty she left the home and the landscaping-as it was NOT back to move-in condition as she states. Also, her math is off by $950her final move-out accounting that she was given comes to $2335.
