I purchased a metal building from Great Western Building. During the delivery process, the company had poor communication costing me time and money. I followed all directions given by the company. I informed them that parts were missing. I was told that the roofing was on back order the day of delivery even though I was told that everything was good to go.I hired a contractor to erect the building once the roof materials were ready for delivery. I coordinated unload costing me more money and time. At this point I had not asked for them to reimburse me. Once everything was delivered, my contractor erected the building. However roofing parts were missing. I again, had to coordinate delivery with the proper equipment to unload. The contractor charged me $2,000 dollars for the time delays and remobilization once I was able to get the parts to finish the job.I worked with customer service at ****************************************************************** to take accountability anns make it right. ********************* was the representative. He assured me that they would pay the $2,000 dollars after I provided all the proof that I followed their direction on the contract. He admitted that they had messed up and left the parts in their warehouse. Originally, he said they would pay the contractor directly and asked that I emailed the invoice to him. After I emailed the invoice no payment was made. My contractor called me and said he would need payment. I sent payment at this time. I reached out to multiple contacts at Great Western Building. ***** told me two times via text and email that they would resolve the issue and pay me by end of the week. The second time he said it was on the owners desk. No reimbursement was received.Since then, I have contacted them multiple times and they have bot gotten back to me. I let them know that I would be contacting BBB.I have emails and text chains available to send confirming they were to send reimbursement.Business response

****************,
Great Western delivered all the materials you purchased to your jobsite.
Our records indicate that you requested a payment of $2,000 for construction costs. That reimbursement was denied. As per the mutually signed agreement between yourself and Great Western, we do not cover any of the erection costs of your building, including rental equipment. Great Western is the material supplier.
Had you or your erector performed an inventory before you began assembly, you would not have experienced delays. It was clearly communicated to you that an inventory check is a vital part of ensuring everything is at your jobsite.
We hope that you are enjoying your building, and that it provides you with positive experiences for many years to come.Initial Complaint

This started in May of 2020, I signed an agreement with great western buildings for a barn and sent money, Heaven ******** the project manager later called and said she didn't get the money. We sent anouther check not wanting to stall the project. ****** later we called her and found out they had not been working on the barn, that there where others papers that where not sent and needed to be signed. Being late in the year we asked if their where any concerns if we waited until spring to get the barn, she said no issues. in early 2021 she called and said we owed $11,000 more,I got angry when I found out they knew from their steel suppliers prices where going up and never let us know, until she sent the copied papers on feb. 13. Rai.h said not to be mad to wait that prices always go back down. In May of 2021 she said we owed even more money, that is when they finally sent the secret papers that they said we needed to sign. They said we could not have our money back. I don't know how they would'nt think that people would not mad when they are blind sided by unknown price increases and not given an oppeotunity to react. If they had let me know and I chose not to respond that would be on me. All other buisinesses I know including my own, when you sign a contract and money is paid that is the contract, there are no secret papers. I don't know why they wouldnt send all the papers at the same time. In October of 2023, we decided to try to get something for are money. I asked for the current price on the original design. Five months later I was told we know owe $40,000 more, I decided to get a price on just the frame of the building or a smaller building, two months later nothing. I contacted a saleperson like I was a new customer and got a price on a smaller ********************** in two hours.I was then told not to bother sales people and their is now anouther price increase. I signed and sent the paper from may of 2021 for the frame. told not acceptable. 8 months now, please helpBusiness response

****************,
We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with our services. We have already offered to arrange delivery with you multiple times. Each time, you have elected to delay your project. Once you delay, you are responsible to cover any increases in steel prices that *** occur as we cannot control the price of steel, nor can we store the steel needed for your project for an unlimited amount of time without payment. It has been more than four years since you ordered your building and prices have fluctuated significantly since then. The good news is that they are significantly lower now than they were at their peak.
Here is a broad timeline.
5/2020 GWB sent permits and instructions for manufacturing release (May 21, 2020 email attached) which would have avoided any re-costing
6/2020 **** asked about foundation design and took a month to get the release form back to **. GWB sent her the cost back and followed up twice.
7/2020 **** said ***** is looking into other options for the foundation.
10/2020 **** asked for a receipt for Change Order 1 deposit and it was sent to her
2/2021 GWB followed up with the Mervyns to see if they were ready to proceed
4/2021 GWB advised the Mervyns that they need to sign off on fabrication right away or could be subject to further price increase and provided the document (April 15th, 2021 email attached)
GWB has been open and communicative about price fluctuations, and has kindly advised where pricing is when the Mervyns inquire. GWB is ready, willing and able to produce the designed and engineered building, but requires the Mervyns to sign off and approve current pricing to allow us to fabricate it.
Sincerely, Great Western BuildingsInitial Complaint

We put a down payment on a metal building back in 2020. Right before Covid made prices go way up. We were told to wait and the prices would go back down and they never did. So three years later we are trying to get something for our money since they refuse to give any of it back. We wanted to down size the building small enough to get it with the money we have already spent so we dont have to pay anymore than we already have. This company has had our money in the amount of $15,000 for over 3 years and we cant get anything done so we can have this smaller building put into production! They want us to pay more because they say the building costs more than we have paid. I had a family member get a quote for a bigger building and they quoted them a 20x20 building for $12,900. $2000 dollars less than the 15x20 building they are saying my $15000 dollars wont cover! Also they are wanting me to pay them $1200 for me to drive from ******** to ************** ******** just to pick up my building! Says that is the loading fee! We just want our building! They will not answer my calls, emails, or texts for weeks at a time. They wont let me speak to the owner although *** asked numerous times. We just keep getting the run around! We dont know what to do and need help! ThanksBusiness response

****************,
You have already been provided a discount off your original building order of $27,950.00 for the design changes. We cannot waive sales taxes, nor waive the loading fee. Please see the change order attached that you signed where we agreed to reduce the building size, and take $27,950.00 off your building price. In it you agreed it was your responsibility to cover the load fee and any applicable sales taxes.
You ordered your building in August of 2020; steel prices did not start to go up and lead times extend until 2021. Attached are the multiple communications from your project manager working on your design with you and him asking if you were ready to move forward in the months before you would have been subject to a price increase. When you reached back out in spring of 2021 to move forward, more than 7 months had passed. Your project manager expressed that he hoped prices would come down in the future, but he certainly didnt promise or guarantee it. Great Western has no control of the global economy nor steel commodity pricing. It has been nearly four years since you ordered your building and we partnered with you to reduce the costs by allowing you to significantly reduce the size of the project.
If you wish to proceed with the manufacture of the building, you need to pay applicable sales taxes and loading fees as you agreed when you signed off on the attached change order.
Sincerely,
Great Western Buildings

In July I was contracted by Great Western Buildings about supplying my request for quote on a steel 22' X 24' garage. My contact person was ***************************, **************************************** would assured me that the building could be delivered by November 2023. I paid the upfront money and then received the agreement and noticed the building was being promised, kinda, "January to March ****. I immediately contacted **************** and told him to give me my money back since he promised the building by November 2023. **************** assured me that manufacturing had said they could get the building to ship in November 2023 if I got all my drawings, etc. approved quickly. I returned all requested information and signatures within hours of receiving them from Great Western Buildings. August 1 I received a packet from GWB and my job number was ***** and *********************** was my project manager. I was told by ****************** that within about 45 days I would be contacted for final payment and my building would go to production. When I had not heard back from ****************** by early October I contracted him by email with no response. A week later I sent the same email with "second request" and received back that he had sent my email to manufacturing and had not received a reply. Third week and then no reply from ****************** at all. When researching GWB from both YELP and ****** Reviews a history of deception by GWB becomes apparent. From the above complaints against GWB to the BBB show the same pattern. Same question, when do I get my building that was promised in November?Business response

******************,
We are sorry to hear that you are frustrated.
Your building is in fabrication, and the majority of it is ready. It will be delivered once it's fully complete. Unfortunately the building you were originally paired with cancelled their project, so we have had to find another building to pair your ******* with for delivery. Your building is on the smaller side, and you opted for consolidated delivery which gave you considerable cost savings. Sometimes consolidated loads require a little extra flexibility for delivery timelines. Your building is scheduled to load on November 28th, so there is a possibility it will deliver in November but it may be early December. *************** in logistics will reach out to you to finalize your delivery day and time.
Sincerely,
Great Western Buildings

Back in March of 2021 I began working with GWB to purchase a building from them. Our Architect send them his plans to base a building off of. ***** plans were drafted and we were quickly asked to send in a deposit to lock in Pricing as the steel market was fluctuating big time and set to go up by 9% within weeks. We made the deposit of just under $57,800 and tried working to finalize the plans with the engineers and the newly hired project manager we had been passed off to. The project manager had a hard time with the complexity of the project and after much back and forth between him and our architect and being told there would be delays in timeline and price increases, he soon began not responding to emails or calls in a timely fashion and then quit. We were not notified that he left the company for quite some time, and had to find out by calling multiple people within the company to try to figure out what was going on with our project. We were pushed off to his supervisor as our new project manager, who stayed on staff for about another month, and then also quit. We were then pushed off to another project manager with news of more delays, we tried to scale down the project, asked for a refund, and was pushed to at least just get roofing and siding material for what we spent. We were then told they could not just give us a roofing and siding material, and wanted us to do the entire project at the extended timeline, which was not something that was going to work for us. We have since asked for a much smaller building so we could just do an a smaller outbuilding on our farm to cover the cost of the deposit. It is now taking us more than six months just to get pricing on this option and still do not have a solution for a building or pricing or anything. We have now again requested a refund on our deposit since the company is unable to fulfill, our requests needs for the original contract in an agreed-upon time.Business response

****************,
We are sorry to hear about your frustrations. As you agreed to and are aware, you are not entitled to a refund for the engineering, design, and detailing payments made. Great Western Buildings has incurred significant expenses on your behalf based on the agreement we made together. We are willing to change the agreement with you, to reduce the size and scope of your project. Your project manager sent you the details. It is up to you whether you would like to move forward with the designs he provided.

I originally contacted Great Western Building Supply (GWB) on April 2 2021 requesting a quote and was contacted by *************************** (Steel Building Consultant).April 6 2021 I signed a purchase agreement for a 36'x62' Building. The total price was $35,228.00. I provided a down payment of $12,329.00 and was told I could expect the building in approximately 6 months (3 months for engineering and another 3 months for fabrication). I requested a change order to ******************* (Project Manager) on 5/4 and after receiving confirmation of the changes I signed documents on 5/24 to pay an additional $9,417.42 for the changes and then provided a down payment of $3,296.10. June 2021 *** provided a memo that said the ******19 pandemic has impacted the ability for *** to source materials and has caused delays and they are looking at a spring (2022) delivery. Sept 20 2021 ************************* (Customer Relations) provided me erection drawings and claimed material shortages would allow a delivery date of "Spring/Early Summer of 2022". Oct 5 2021 ******************* told me *** had closed on a fabrication facility and were expecting a spring (2022) delivery. I requested a delivery date of June/July of 2022. Mar 21 2022 ******************* told me their Pull Through had another delay, expect a June to mid July delivery. Jul 13 2022 ******************* Provided lead times of ***** weeks from completed drawings. My drawings were completed on 8/11/2021 (50 weeks prior). Dec 10 2022 I Requested an update, ***************** (Vice President) said my new project manager is **************. Dec 15 2022 *************************** (project Manager) claimed all timelines were tentative based on my complaint. Mar 22 2023 ***************************** (Shipping Coordinator) moved delivery 7/31 - 8/11. May 1 2023 ***************************** (Shipping Coordinator) moved delivery to 10/24 due to Purlin machine issues. Sept 8 2023 ***************************** moved deliver date to 11/7. December 2022, Spoke with Zeb (salesman) regarding the build of my ideal building, several phone calls and conversations back and forth until February 2022 when I finally came up with a building plan, I was directed to speak with ******* at this time as *** had quit the company, ******* assured me that *** had left out the insulation to my quote and I agreed to have ******* add it in, and I paid the required deposit of ********* to begin production of my building. I also requested color samples at this time and was assured I would receive a welcome packet in the mail and an email with my engineer information. Mid March I followed up asking about my engineer and the welcome packet, paint samples and was told by ******* that she would give ***** (engineer) my message to call me back. ***** called a few days later informing me the packet will be mailed and that the snow load on my order was miscalculated and may need a concrete plan. ***** was to call me back in a few days with his findings. NO CALL BACK, I attempted several times to call and email with no answers or call backs to my messages. I filed a dispute with my bank feeling that my money was taken by a fraudulent company since it had now been almost 3 months and I had not received any plans, calls, email or feedback with my build. My bank informed me there was a contract and they could not help. I then attempted to submit a new quote as if I were a new customer, I was then contacted by ****, at which time I discussed my frustration with the company and my situation and he was apologetic, and would help me get this rolling again, well like everyone else, no follow up, no answer to phone calls, etc. Early July, I called again and finally spoke with ***** (engineer) I at this time told ************ wanted my deposit back as there has been nothing done and we are 5 months in since my deposit. I was laughed at and told I would not be getting any kind of refund, ***** told me he would talk with the owner...... crickets!!!Business response

************************,
It is our understanding that you have been working with your project manager to arrange delivery. Unfortunately, we cannot produce your building until you have signed off on both the design and the colors. The document we need back from you is the Manufacturing Release complete with Color Selections. Once we have that signed paperwork in hand, we can detail the building and then purchase the **************** needed to fulfill the order.

Ordered a building October 2021. As everyone else has stated there were copious delays and received my building May 2023! In other words a ridiculous amount of time. However my building is missing roof closure strips has pieces cut incorrectly and I still do not have my roll up garage doors. I have contacted everyone that has communicated with me over the 20 some months and only one the shipping coordinator will respond at times. I have filed a claim and was told that their claim process is under rework at this time. One more excuse! After this long my patience are well past exhausted and these people have yet to for-fill their obligation to supply me with what I paid for. At what point do excuses stop and action is taken. 22 months is way too long!Business response

******************,
We apologize for your frustration and delayed delivery of your doors. Our records indicate that they were delivered on August 25th, and it looks as though our support teams were communicative with you about it. We also have a lot of communication between us and the door supplier pressuring them to deliver and trying to track them down on your behalf. As you can see from the attached proof of delivery, it took them much longer than the anticipated two weeks to get the doors to you, and we are sorry.
Sincerely,
Great Western Buildings

Doors were received but are now sitting with the rest of the building due to mis-manufactured pieces of the building. This is preventing the building from being completed. Almost two years and I still dont have a complete building to stand up. Supposedly the pieces are being remade but I have not received an ETA on when I can expect them which leads to more labor to erect more rental costs and more wasted time. Company is at fault for these delays and costs.Business response

We ordered our shop in June of 2022, we were set to get it April of 2023. We never received our shop, we continue to receive delay notices one after the other without any sort of guarantee or compensation. We've been delayed until October of 2023 and when we're a couple months from delivery they delay us again. We're disappointed in the lack of follow through with this company. They expect you to put down a non-refundable deposit then think it's okay to make you wait 16+ months for the product you paid for. We're seeing that we are not the only ones that have been taken advantage of.Customer response

On 6/15/2022 we agreed to purchase a steel building from Great Western. A deposit of 16164$ was sent. We sent another 4082$ on 7/25 for a change order and deposit for three overhead doors. As of June 12th 2023 the delivery date is September 2023. We have all the emails and signed documents on file, and emails stating there is more delays. At this point I believe the delays will continue. Judging by all of the 34+ complaints this is the norm for this company. We just want our money back so we can put it towards another brand of building.Business response
