I went in to be induced at 2am. My water broke around 8, right before the doctor came into check on me for the morning. I ended up getting an epidural around 9:30. Doctor was supposed to come check on me after clinical rounds for the day and never did. Epidural wore off around 7pm. I was able to feel everything. I started pushing around 7:30 with the nurses. The nurses only have so much autonomy and their technique can only be so aggressive in the scope of their practice. The nurses who assisted in my sons birth were absolutely wonderful although my son had unfortunately become stuck and his head was clearly visible. *** ******, the doctor, was no where to be found. My husband kept asking where she was because I was clearly in pain and there was nothing more that the nurses could do to aid in my son’s birth. After 20 minutes of him being stuck she finally showed up. The whole time she claimed she was at Walmart with her sin picking up something for school. She failed in the doctor patient relationship. She tainted one of the most beautiful experiences. She then left the room not even speaking to me saying she was leaving and did not come back to check on me until hours later. When she finally came in, she tried to do it when my husband wasn’t even there. I spent months of trusting my doctor throughout this pregnancy, sharing my concerns, but when I needed her most, she was not there. Our son ended up having to be in the NICU with fluid in his lungs and additional head swelling which we weren’t sure if was caused due to him being stuck for so long in the vaginal canal. Turns out, we later looked through our insurance carrier to see her rating as a provider and not at all to our surprise she has a poor Rating. Not once has Thibodaux regional medical center ever tried to reach out about the experience. Not to mention, I was completely unable to get any care from any doctor in the woman’s center and had to seek out a brand new doctor for my postnatal care.
