At about ******+ miles on my 2014 ***** PILOT, I had a water leak. So me being as **** as I am with my Pilot, I quickly took action to a local gas station to check it. In July 2023 Car Shield referred me to PROPER SERVICE AUTO REPAIR SHOP, aka JK's Auto Service. From the beginning there was hoop jumping - we don't want to take that warranty because all the paperwork involved, so I said that I would do the leg work as I wanted my vehicle to get the best service it could. I obtained the approval for the extended warranty with the water pump. The shop manager advised me that if you were going to already be doing the water pump that I should do the timing belt, tensioner, pulley and seals. I mentioned that I would like to use ***** *** water pump kit (I purchased - first $ charge) the manager stated that if I did so he was not going to warranty the work. That should've been my first sign to run straight to the ***** dealer to get this work done, but I give them the benefit of the doubt regardless of my better judgment and I figured if they are ASCE certi and working with CAR SHIELD that my car would be in good hands..I picked up my vehicle and it had a noise which I never had before and then you know if you interrupt old pulleys they can become defective, so changed it (another $ charge)..the noise was still there, then the manager states that it is the *** PARTS that have issues, so they remove them (another charge) as it would not be covered - so again, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and I let them purchase their own parts (CONTINENTAL, another charge), listed on multiple websites as the most problematic company for engine parts) At 5 minutes into driving the vehicle it had another noise, but this time it was different than first noise..it sounded like the gears inside the timing belt housing but the manager and mechanic just let me leave like that and tell me that the heat will be your friend or enemy (however you want to look at it) and make the issue worst.
