The patient is my father, ****** **** (9/23/47). He was seen at ********* ****************** 1/11/2024 for a routine visit. They billed ******** and his Med Supplement plan, but stated he had a balance due of $152.41. Each time he got the bill, he went in person to the office to resolve it. He was never given an explanation as to why ******** denied the claim. It made no sense. During his last visit, the person told him it was handled. But what she meant was that she sent him to collections for the amount due. We have sense paid the balance, although it should not be owed.I oversee his account and emailed regarding the issue asking what was not covered. The only response I got was that I needed to check the *** from the insurer. It is ********. The office should be able to tell us what was denied. He does not pay deductibles. His medical supplement plan covers what ******** does not. This is very likely an office billing error that they refused to correct and instead sent a 77 year old man to collections although he repeatedly followed up. They could have also contacted me as per the instructions on the account. He does NOT owe this money. The clinic did something wrong. He has never owed any money to *** with all of his treatment with his plans. If they feel he does owe it, a simple explanation is not unreasonable. This is borderline elder abuse as he tried multiple times to get it resolved.
