I wish there was a way to reply to the reply on this site. This roof wall situation was not incorrectly installed, as *** states. It stood on the roof for tens of years before leaking significantly. His "repair" of PAINTING a material that had no flex OVER a location that required movement, even after explicitly being shown that flexible material was required is blatantly negligent work. And saying that rocks blowing around on the roof was the cause of his product cracking (among other excuses) was laughable. The only reason I didn't laugh in his face was because I felt I had to humor his mansplaining so the warranty would be honored. Even if rocks on a roof blew around like he was trying to sell, why would you use a product that would be so easily damaged by "blowing rocks" as *********** on a roof literally covered in them? Why would you not prep the surface by removing existing product before installing your own if yours wasn't going to stick to it. He was shown the site, the previous products used, and the wall movement required during his site walk. He did not choose the correct product(s) and/or prep for the job. After being given the go ahead from our lawyer, I have since repaired the leaks that he did not by cutting away a few inches of the old sealant around the bolts, wire brushing the bolts and pot edges, and refilling the pots with a flexible product with GREAT results. It did take me some time, as I was only able to fit in about 8 of the 118 pots per day around my actual job, but I was willing to take the time to do it right rather than be taken for thousands of dollars by another hack. *** clearly has no intention of doing a job right or even trying to do so. He will take your money and run despite offering a 10 year warranty to get the sale. "Finishing the job" requires actually finishing the job. I wish there was a place for photos so you could "see" the quality of service this guy supplies. Avoid this grifter at all costs.

The Don Childers Group, LLC Response

I don't have any respect for a Narcissistic manager who who'll lie and manipulate her cases as a negative towards her life and her behavior.

There is no lie in my statements. Don was shown the roof, the areas that needed repair, and the materials that were used previously. He chose the product EpoxyFlex and went to great lengths to sell me on its value and ability to do the job of repairing leaks in a location that clearly required a flexible product. It did not. It cracked and flaked within the first weeks. The following use of another product was further indication that he used the wrong product to start with. Applying the new product over the EpoxyFlex was not a knowledgeable choice either. If the bottom layer is peeling off, the one you're applying over it is not going to stick either. Was it the EpoxyFlex or was it the application method? We can't find out because the Contact Us Send button doesn't seem to work at *****************************. But the application method instructions now available definitely do not align with what application I saw Don oversee. He dumped most of the work off on the sub, who he'll likely blame next, but Don was right there telling him to just paint it over the existing, as the sub had never used the product before. As I had also never used the product before, I was relying on his product knowledge and assurances that it would indeed do the job. A mistake I will not soon make again.

Don agreed to a 10-year warranty for the repair. He did not stand by it. If he knew all these excuses were problematic from the start, why did he take the job? Any reputable vendor who thought that wall was poorly installed and would cause problems would not have agreed to a repair with a 10-year warranty unless he never intended to honor it. Anybody who actually thought rocks blow around on a tar and gravel roof (and somehow don't pile up against the parapet like any trash left up there by vendors) probably should have ensured his product choice would stand up to such abuse. This is Texas after all, if it won't stand up to tumbling rocks, how would it ever stand up to hail?

If anyone was being manipulative in this business transaction, it was Don. From his repeated references to his "crazy soon to be ex-wife" clearly used to invoke pity and his "phone a friend" EpoxyFlex creator with a website that doesn't work well enough to follow up when there's an issue with his product to his "take the money and run" dishonoring of his 10- year warranty and evading our lawyers attempts at contact him in regard to it, Don is a vendor to avoid. We simply asked him to make the repair he promised and to honor the warranty he agreed to to win the bid. He didn't even honor one year of that 10-year warranty. Nor did he reimburse us for failing to do so. I don't, and will never, respect someone who says they'll do a job and then completely half-asses it and won't honor their warranty. I have the signed contract and the photo evidence that show Don Childers didn't fully do the job he was paid for. He was paid because at the time of completion, the product sealed the surfaces, and he agreed through the warranty to make the repairs if it did not hold up for 10 years. I have over 600 pictures collected throughout the process, from the initial installation to the first crackling, cracking, and flaking. Through the return visits and secondary product applications. Through the eventual repair process that show his product and product application dissected as I cut it away to create a clean surface to install the new product. Don only has his word. And, based on my experience, that has no value.

If narcissism is being proud that you successfully completed a repair that a "professional" did not, then maybe I am. It did after all hold up to the March 2 storm with winds that inspired tornado sirens. However, I thought narcissism was more about the constant telling of stories about "important" people you know and fixating on your appearance and constantly going to the gym and such, per the Oxford definition: excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and one's physical appearance. Maybe Don doesn't respect himself at the end of all this.
