High Level: Ashley is not honoring warranty based on my understanding of what should be covered. Details: - Bed set purchased Dec 2025. This included a platform bed and mattress, all from Ashley Furniture. - On Sept 30, 2024, the bed rail supporting the platform slats separated on one corner of the bed. (see attached pictures) - Per the Ashley-Sleep Limited Warranty, the 'foundation' has a 10-year limited warranty with 1 year of labor coverage. (see warranty attached) - We meet all warranty requirements, i.e., original owner, purchased 9 years ago and within the 10-year period, bed is in original position as installed and not damaged as part of a move, never been used as a rental, etc. - Per Ashley store manager (Gabe), a 'Foundation' is a box spring that goes under the mattress; the side rails of a platform bed are not consider part of the foundation. - Per an internet search, the slats and rails of a platform bed are considered the 'foundation': "Is box spring the same as foundation? Box springs and foundations are designed to support the mattress and the sleeper. Since box springs are constructed with springs, they're bouncy but firm. Meanwhile, foundations offer more solid support. With slats or solid construction, they can offer the ultimate support, making mattresses feel firmer." - ************************************************** also defines a foundation and includes a platform bed: "With that in mind, what is a mattress foundation? A mattress foundation is the bed base that lifts your mattress off the ground, elevating your sleep (both figuratively and literally). Unlike a box spring, a mattress foundation employs wooden planking to support your mattress rather than box springs and coils. The wood slats are placed within a wooden box..." Requesting BBB to help confirm whether my definition is reasonable or not, and if this repair should be covered under warranty.
