I arrived at this dentist thru the internet. His coworker is my sisters dentist. She loves her dentist. I had to have new dentures as the ones I got prior were very expensive and painful. This was in April I believe. I was made to pay full price without knowing how these dentures would work. When I received the dentures there was little work done to insure the fit. I returned two times in awful pain. Told he doesnt use liners and didnt advise grinding to relieve pain. Told me than I couldnt get implants because of ********* a diabetic and should not get that surgery. The dr. *** condescending and aggressive in his behavior. I feel that he has had other complaints. All Im asking is I get a refund so I can start all over with this situation. Once again the dentist was downright mean.Business response

Before making any appointments with Midwest Dental I spoke with the office and asked specifically if they were part of United Concordia network. I was told they were so appointments were made. After the first appointment our son *********************** needed a couple cavities filled. Before that appointment I received something stating we would owe so much for the services (cleanings). I called the office to question and was told insurance has not paid so that is not correct. At the initial filling appointment and were told that he has a couple more cavities that would need filled. At this appointment he received 6 numbing injections to fill these cavities. To us that is ridiculous and have never encountered a dental office that would administer that many injections at one time or one that happens to find extra cavities a week later that conveniently need filled that same day. Cavities take more than one week to form and with them performing an exam and X-rays a week prior these cavities should have been seen. We received another statement stating we would owe a large amount for these fillings. I contacted them and questioned the amount of these charges as we had been told they were an INP. multiple times that day I was told they were in network and she has had this issue before that they had the doctors name spelled wrong. She stated she would contact United Concordia herself Monday, as by now it was later on Friday. Monday the office manager calls telling us that they are not in network. I stated I have called your office multiple times and was told you were in network and even Friday was told 3 times they were and we should not be charged OON prices as we questioned it numerous times. I was told that decision was a case by case decision. After speaking with the other girl our daughters fees for were covered however they refuse to work with us on our sons outrageous bills. We feel the treatment was done after they realized it was OON and extra treatments were doneBusiness response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Office contacted me and stated that no further adjustments would be made. They state they made an adjustment in September that was acceptable with my spouse which is not the case. They told him that is what they did and there was no further discussion as to if this satisfied any issues. We are willing to pay in network costs as we were told from the beginning they were in network. We feel additional services were performed that *** not have been necessary as they realized they were an out of network provider.

Per Midwest dental website it states that they accept ******************************* and we were also verbally told by the office multiple times they accept this insurance however all this information is incorrect. The appropriate resolution is that they accept the payment from the insurance that the website states they accept. We also were not given a complete estimate prior to the fillings being performed as also stated on the website. We kept being told that the information wasnt correct as insurance had not paid anything at that point. We are willing to pay what our in network cost would be. We find this activity very fraudulent on the part of Midwest Dental. How many other patients are having to pay exorbitant amounts because of this company not being honest?

This matter was not resolved! Midwest dental continues to state that they will make no further adjusts. They have very unethical and fraudulent practices going on. This practice has lied to me multiple times regarding being in-network for our insurance and they know they have. They are not willing to work further with us on the bill at hand. We have offered multiple times to pay what our in-network costs would be and they will not accept that. I am astonished at how unethical this practice is.

On May 2, 2023 I paid $ ****** with a credit card as a down payment required for services of a crown procedure to Mondovi Dental in *******, ** They told me that if I did not make this initial payment, nothing could be done. They began the process by creating a temporary crown which almost immediately came off. Went in to have it replaced the day after and again, it came off and broke. I was told to wait a few weeks for the crown to come in, come back to get it done. A few weeks later, went in and it wasn't proper, it came off. Went in again, they ordered a new one telling me that they were not happy with the previous one, the next one would be ordered from another company, they said it would be a couple weeks, they would call me, this is now June 2023 going into July. Weeks had gone by and nothing. As I called to follow up, the first thing a ******* tells me is that I have an outstanding bill and that I needed to pay for a crown done there. I explained that that was not true being I was still waiting for their phone call once the crown had come in. I was put on hold for over 30 minutes with no one ever getting back to until the next day that I made contact and at this point I did not want to deal with the bad service I received from them. I was told that the Crown still had not come in that they could look into it. I explained to them that I was very unhappy, to please refund my $ ****** and I would go somewhere else. It is now December of 2023 and I am still waiting for my refund. The work that they were not able to do is jeopardizing my dental health. I am requesting a full refund for services not rendered and all I am asking is for a refund back to my credit card so that I can go to a new dentist and get this much needed procedure done as soon as possible. I have been speaking to an Office Manager there by the name of *********************** of Mondovi Dental ******************************************************* ************** but she is often out and has not been able to resolve yet. All I want is a refund.Business response

I have received treatment for several cavities from Midwest dental. And one deep cleaning. On each procedure I was given paperwork for pre approval from my insurance. Several times claims were denied. According to my insurance improper documentation. Some of the claims have been resubmitted. And processed. I did not come to my last cleaning due to concerns about the billing. I also have two very bad teeth that I have had to go to urgent care 3 times this year to get antibiotics, because I am worried about these dental bills. I was told this is very good insurance. And, it would be really good insurance. But, the office doesn't return my phone calls. I have called more than a dozen times. Every time I do speak with someone I get the response that I do not have the detailed summary in front of me, and I will have to get back to you. I never get a follow up. And the problem is not fixed. When I call and leave a message. No reply. I have been in pain and suffering for over a year due to their inability to handle the paperwork properly. Or even return a phone call. Currently, I have a bill for $1500. I was told it was fully covered by insurance. They tell me it is a mistake. But, why hasn't it been fixed? I need this handled so I can get my teeth fixed, and end this pain.Business response

On July 3rd I had an appointment at H36383**0303****438H at 2:00pm located at *********************************************************************************. I was scheduled for a routine exam, x-rays and cleaning. I entered the office approximately at 1:45pm and receptionist asked my name and checked me in and to fill out paperwork. I was called back into an exam room which then the Dental assistant began taking a full mouth of x-rays top and bottom. Shortly after x-rays were all taken ************** the Dentist came in and introduced herself. She asked if I was having any problems, I responded and said that a I was aware of a tooth on the right side had a piece broke off, other than that a few of my teeth are a little sensitive to hot or cold. She never reviewed my x-rays with me she just asked me to open my mouth and she picked up her instrument with a hook and a pointy tip and started picking and pushing in all of my teeth. When she pushed that instrument in tooth #** located in the upper left of my mouth I almost jumped off that chair with excruciating pain that traveled all the way to the top of my head. She was aware of the pain I felt because she took the instrument out of my mouth and rolled her chair back and said I don't know what caused me pain because x-ray showed no cavity or no fracture on the tooth. At that point she said that during her exam I would now need a crown and a possible build-up in that tooth and not to chew on that side to cause further damage, I responded and said are you serious? I came in with no problem and now that you caused me throbbing pain and a problem now you want to charge me for high cost services! She responded then saying her hygienist was not in office and I could NOT get teeth cleaning that day and I would have to reschedule. Had I known that I would have rescheduled my appointment for another date and time because I have always received routine exam along with cleaning from previous Dental offices. There was no respect to even call and notify me of her absence. In throbbing pain I then walked towards reception desk which they already had a quote for #**. The cost before Insurance was $1845.00 and my out of pocket cost would be $1291.50. Walked out of office very upset and in throbbing pain from her failed exam. I then got into my car and called Liberty Dental Insurance and told them what had just happened and they recommended I file a grievance, so I did and was on the phone over an hour describing my painful situation. Called and left several messages and was finally able to reach ************** July 6th, she said that I could come in and get tooth rechecked or get the tooth pulled or get a root canal. I refused all of her alternatives at this point, instead sought out another Dentist. I have filed several complaints with appropriate departments against the Dentist and hope when she is investigated, what happened to me doesn't happen to anybody else. I can't say for sure if this was purposely done by her to put money in her pocket but she was more concerned about expressing the cost of fixing my pain instead of either offering me a no cost solution. Now I had to go to another Dentist and need work done on tooth #** that was brought upon what she did and only have $1000 deductible for the year. However the outcome from my complaints, I would NOT recommend anyone visit H36383**0303****438H in *********.Business response

[Please type your response here.] I would not recommend, refer or send my worst enemy to Midwest Dental on **************** located in *********, **. I went in for a routine exam, x-rays and cleaning and had no problems and walked out with a throbbing painful toothache after what the Dentist did during her exam with the instruments. Per her recommendation of getting either my tooth pulled, a root canal or a second opinion, I decided the second opinion was in my best interest. I was able to get into ******** Family Dental an emergency visit to examine my tooth and see if it was savable. After examining tooth and 3 x-rays the Dentist said Midwest Dentist had broken off a piece of filling with her instrument which at that moment caused me excruciating pain to the top of my head. Dentist recommendation was to drill out old filing and refill so I said let's do it. The next available appointment was on July 20th, 2023 and was happy to get repaired because of what Midwest Dental did on July 3rd. My life for 2/12 weeks has been life changing after the damage she did on that tooth. My concern with Midwest Dental and specifically the Dentist was that she had no idea I even had a filling in that tooth cause she said there was no fracture, her recommendation was to get my tooth pulled. She wanted to pull a perfectly healthy tooth!! Terrible Dentist!! I will continue to file my complaints and court filings. As of today my throbbing toothache is gone and they were able to repair the damage Midwest Dental caused.Regards,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
In response to ***************************** response, a few things: I "DID NOT" have a chief complaint that I was in pain or having pain on left side. I made an appointment on July 3rd, 2023 for a routine cleaning, examination, and x-rays since it had been a year since my last Dental Check-up. ************************* asked if I had any issues, I responded to her and I said "that I have had cracked teeth and had several teeth pulled years ago because they fractured to the root and were unfortunately not savable and that all my teeth are sensitive due to my age which is 62 years old". During her exam when she was using a pointy instrument she caused me great excruciating pain which she was very aware at the moment because I almost fell of the chair and she at that moment rolled her chair back from me. She said that" I dont' know why your having pain on that tooth because I see no cavity or fracture" on x-rays. Her Recommendation was to get a crown, root canal or extraction. I refused all of her recommendations after the pain and throbbing she caused me.************************* said to me on phone July 5th, 2023 to get another opinion, so I obviously got another opinion on July 11th at ******** H32323**7333539373237H Dental. Due to her incompetence as a Dentist it was NOT tooth #** that she injured and caused me pain it was tooth #** next to my eye tooth according to my new Dentist, and she should have known that when I jumped. The damage she caused me from her instrument on the correct tooth #** was that there was no sign of a fracture or cavity but that there what was seen during the exam was a small white cavity that she damaged a corner part of during her exam and that was causing me the pain and throbbing. ******** Dental said I needed to get #** drilled and filled so I made another appointment on July 20th. After that appointment and getting that tooth filled my pain and throbbing is GONE thanks to ******** Dental and their findings and fixing the damage the ************************* caused me on July 3rd, 2023.
I spoke with ***** from H36383**0303****438H **************** she was going to call me back within a week after giving her my permission to review x-rays by her technician, never got a call back.
Not only is H36383**0303****438H Customer Service careless and incompetent and not very concerned about their patients in ********* on ****************, but ************************* should have her license revoked as a Dentist due to her mistakes and carelessness, so she does NOT cause pain, suffering and mistakes to other patients.

I was seen at ******** Dental in Delhi ** on 12/21/22. I have **************** I was seen for a broken tooth. They xrayed my whole mouth. I was advised by Midwest Dental ********, ********* early in 2021 - that I should replace 2 older gold crowns that were installed some 30+ years ago - as they were beginning to show much wear and tear etc. Long story short they were replaced by Midwest in May 2021. I paid $1979.00 for this to be completed. Last week I noticed a chip in one of the crowns, and not exactly small either. I just called the dentist's office to see if it could be replaced for free since obviously it failed!! I was called back and told "no" it's over a year since it was put in and nothing at all is covered past 1 year. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!My prior dentist of 30 years, who had since retired.....always replaced or redid teeth breakdowns - that he had done - no matter how long ago. He would take the crown out, return it to the manufacturer and get a new one put in 100% covering all charges! I am dumbfounded, that they cannot or choose not to insure their product from failure.....past a year limit. I was NEVER told this when the work was done....Or I certainly would have thought it through more!! This is unacceptable and I will go further - file a Professional Liability claim - if they do not correct their poor dentistry practice!! See my bill enclosed.Business response

Per my complaint dated 1/19/2023 --The Midwest Dental office had me come in today to look at the broken crown. They exrayed it, and advised that they will first check with the company that made the crown - to see if they would replace it for free...but if not "Midwest Dental" would absorb the cost of a new crown, and I assume - installation of same.I am pleased they are able to make a good decision and I would like to rescind my complaint if possible, or add the above closing information!I go back on 2/1/2023 for the procedure.

The practice required payment up from for services that wre submitted to my insurance company. They overestimated payment by $130.66 for two seratate visits in 2022 (Jan 2022 and June 2022.). I have made numerours requests for a refund. I was told that their billing person quit but that someone was starting in September and that she would work on the backlog. I have since made calls every two weeks. They keep telling me that they have submitted the request to "Corporate" and they would check again and call me back. No one does, so I try call again and are told that it is up to corporate. I have asked for one of the doctors to call me. They haven't. I have been a patient for almost 30 years. They can't seem to get it together. The turnover of hygenists and office personell seems effective. Can you **** me get my money? At this point I don't trust them anymore and will be switching to anothe dentist next year. Thank you BBB. I hope you can help.*****************************Business response
