On various dates in 2022, the business entered into Consent Judgments, settlement agreements, and/or Assurances of Voluntary Compliance with several states, which resolve claims that the business deceptively advertised the real-world fuel economy of 2013-2014 C-Max hybrids and the payload capacity of 2011-2014 Super Duty pickup trucks.
According to the terms, the business agreed to avoid making false or misleading advertising claims concerning fuel economy or payload capacity of a new motor vehicle and pay a total of $19,000,000 plus costs of $200,000.
Ford specifically denies it has violated any federal or state laws. The Consent Judgments, settlement agreements and/or Assurances of Voluntary Compliance were agreed to compromise and settle the dispute, not out of any admission of guilt, wrongdoing, violation, or sanction.
